Job Overview

The Director of Business Development, Americas will spearhead Spaceflux’s market entry and commercial growth across the US and broader Americas region. This role involves developing strategic partnerships, securing initial contracts, and establishing a solid market presence. The ideal candidate possesses substantial experience in international business development within the space sector, extensive familiarity with the US market (including government and commercial sectors), and a proven ability to deliver tangible results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic market-entry plan for the Americas region, achieving significant milestones within an initial six-month period.
  • Identify, develop, and secure business opportunities within the US, focusing particularly on SSA and STM-related services.
  • Establish and cultivate strategic partnerships and client relationships, leveraging existing contacts and industry knowledge.
  • Drive commercial negotiations and effectively respond to public procurements and proposals within the US and Americas markets.
  • Represent Spaceflux at major industry events, such as the Space Symposium, enhancing visibility and industry connections.
  • Provide regular, detailed reports on market entry progress, sales activities, pipeline development, and forecasts to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and commercial teams in the UK to align product offerings with customer requirements and market expectations.
  • Leverage personal market insights and regional expertise to guide the company’s overall international growth strategy.

Requirements

  • Higher education degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in sales, business development, or regional leadership within the space or aerospace industries, particularly in the US.
  • Extensive knowledge of the US market, including familiarity with defence, government, and commercial aerospace sectors.
  • Established professional network and relationships within the US space community.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic market-entry plans and successfully deliver against ambitious commercial targets.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently between the UK and the US, as required.
