Spaceflux Raises £9 Million To Expand Space Intelligence Globally

London-based space intelligence company Spaceflux has raised £3.5 million in an extension to its seed round, bringing total funding to £9 million which will accelerate global expansion. The extension was led by existing investor Blackfinch Ventures with a major follow-on, alongside continued participation from Foresight Group and the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund (managed by Future Planet Capital), a government-backed fund supported by partners including the UK Space Agency and the Ministry of Defence. The round also marks the entry of Tokyo-based firm SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd with investment from their Space Frontiers Fund II. SPARX becomes Spaceflux’s first international institutional investor, establishing the company’s footprint in the Japanese market.

The new capital will supercharge growth of the company’s AI-powered space intelligence products including Pattern of Life analytics, on top of Spaceflux’s Cortex platform, to scale sovereign and operational deployments for allied governments. The Japanese investment from SPARX’s Space Frontiers Fund II emphasises Spaceflux’s continued global reach and trust by allied governments as demand rises for sovereign space intelligence capabilities.

The funding follows a series of major contract wins for the company. Spaceflux recently secured all three multi-year UK Government space surveillance and tracking contracts under the National Space Operations Centre framework, cementing its role in delivering sovereign orbital intelligence for the UK across multiple orbital regimes. The company was also selected by MDA Space to support Canada’s national Surveillance of Space 2 programme, demonstrating growing international adoption of its AI-driven space intelligence capabilities. Spaceflux is also a participant in NATO DIANA  and recently demonstrated exceptional cislunar tracking capabilities in collaboration with UK Space Command and the UK Space Agency during the Artemis II mission.

Dr Marco Rocchetto, CEO and co-founder of Spaceflux, said:

“This funding round validates the scale of Spaceflux’s credibility, sovereign-grade technology, and transition from early growth to operational scale. After delivering all three UK Government space surveillance and tracking contracts, being selected by Canadian company MDA Space as an optical systems provider for the Canadian government, and joining NATO DIANA, we are now scaling our AI-powered space intelligence internationally. Bringing in SPARX as a new Japanese investor, alongside continued support from our existing backers, is a clear signal that the demand for allied space intelligence is global.”

In a further signal of support behind the business, Spaceflux has also appointed defence expert General Sir Christopher Michael Deverell, KCB, MBE, to its board of directors. His arrival strengthens Spaceflux’s governance amid the company’s rapid scaling of sovereign space intelligence for allied governments. A retired British Army officer, Sir Chris served as Commander of the UK’s Joint Forces Command and as a member of the UK Chiefs of Staff Committee from 2016 to 2019.

Commenting on his appointment to the Spaceflux board General Sir Christopher Deverell said:

“It is a great pleasure to be joining Spaceflux. As space becomes ever more central to our economies and our security, the UK and its allies need sovereign, trusted partners like Spaceflux to operate there with confidence. I look forward to supporting the team as it scales.”

Founded in 2022, Spaceflux provides Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Intelligence services using data from its global network of optical sensors and a proprietary AI-driven platform Cortex. The latest funding positions the company to scale infrastructure, expand internationally and strengthen sovereign space intelligence capabilities for allied governments and commercial operators worldwide.

ENDS.
